How To Have A Hen Party At Home

Wondering how you can have an amazing hen party while staying at home? If so, then don’t worry: here at Hen Party Superstore we have solutions for whatever kind of event you desire.

Home Hen Dos

The ever-popular Hen Party, in all its glory, has become a conventional part of our feminine experience in modern day societies. Can you imagine a world without them, and how boring the whole run-up to the wedding would be? What was once the final farewell, before the bride-to-be was whisked off by her new groom, has now become a celebrated excuse to have a huge, pre-marital, girly get-together. We know that girly get-togethers don’t just end at the wedding, but the whole ‘last night of freedom’ rhetoric seems to govern the demand for such a party.

Over the years, the Hen Do has evolved from a sensible and sophisticated affair, to a wild and outrageous one. We’ve all seen a group of boisterous hens before, sashes on, and willy straws on hand. However, recent years have seen a rise in demand for vintage and other alternative Hen Parties, among these, is the Hen Party at Home. Home hen parties offer each bride-to-be to the chance to create her own intimate, unique and flexible event, while keeping costs down to a minimum – perfect for anyone planning on a budget.

And let’s face it, going out on the tiles or off on a mad weekend isn’t for everyone, and your hen night should be all about you. If you want to stay at home, who’s to judge? As long as you’ve got the right people around you, that is all that should matter.

So, without further ado, here is the Hen Party Superstore guide to having an amazing hen party from the comfort of your own home.

Your Own Bespoke Theme

The main benefit of having your hen party in your home is that it can be exactly how you want it. This could be one theme which maybe has a special resonance with the bride-to-be, such as Hawaiian with grass skirts, coconut bras, leis and fruity cocktails, or lots of mini themes for different parts of the night – games based on the bride-to-be’s favourite shows, cocktails with her favourite spirit and clothing from her favourite country… Without the public watching (like they might if you are going out on the town) you are free to customise your night as little or as much as you want. Your house, your hen party, your rules!

Pamper Parties

For many of us, the spa is our sanctuary, a home away from home, away from the bedlam of our everyday routines. Little else beats quality TLC, especially after the strain of organizing a Hen Party. However, the extortionate spa prices and getting to and from the location can cause mighty headaches – so why not bring the spa to you?

Activities such as face masks, manicures, pedicures, foot spas and massages can all easily be done at home for little cost and help to prepare the bride-to-be and all her hens for the big day. Of course, you can always have wine, nibbles and games to do throughout the night as well!

DIY Cocktails

As we’ve mentioned above, having your hen do at home means you can serve any (and as much of any) drink you like. When drinking cocktails out on the town, you can find that you’re savouring one or two drinks, making them last as long as possible because you’ve paid through the roof for them! Making cocktails at home is much, much cheaper than drinking them in fancy bars, meaning you can enjoy all the same delicious drinks at just a fraction of the price. You also get to make the, yourself, which, as well as being can be fun, might help improve your bartending skills should you need them again in the future.

If each hen chips in £10, you’ll have more than enough to stock yourselves up for the night – and you’ll be lucky if that £10 gets you two drinks on a normal night out!

Hungry Hens

We all love eating out, but only when the numbers are manageable. Unfortunately, this is not normally the case with hen parties which usually involve large groups of hens, making it difficult to find a restaurant or bar that can cater for everyone. I’d personally like a large, oval table that can seat 20. Know anywhere? Of course not.

This problem can be solved with a home hen do, where, through preparation and a little help from the other hens you can make sure everyone is catered for from the comfort of your own home. Buffets are usually the best bet for large numbers and there’s no pressure for anyone to finish a full meal. Plus, you can mix it up with any kinds of food you like! You can even extend the dun and have a baking preparation day with other hens where you get together to cook up your delicious treats.

Or, if you would prefer a proper sit down meal at your home hen party – that’s fine! As long as you have enough chairs for round the dining table you can do as you wish.

But Remember…

Does the idea of a hen party at home sound too good to be true? Well, there are a few minor downsides which we thought were worth a mention. Firstly, unlike bars and clubs who have hired cleaners, you will be responsible for tidying up after your home den do. If you stay on top of rubbish during the party you should be fine, or if you have kind hens who will help you the next day, even better!

You may also find that a stay at home hen party requires a little more thought and effort, but some people thrive on creativity so if you are one of these then this shouldn’t be a problem. The fact that you can customise your home hen party to be exactly how you want it should spur you on as inspiration!

And finally, like all house parties, remember to warn the neighbours that you’re hosting a hen party in your home beforehand so they don’t get any nasty surprises on the night.
