Hen Party At Home

There are so many decisions when it comes to planning a hen party -When? How? What? Who? Where? At the end of the day you've got to think of your bride and what she would enjoy the most- after all it is her big day we are all planning for. Some girls love the idea of a trip to the city, a big (possibly messy) night out and a few activities and games chucked in, whereas others like a more pampering approach. If your bride-to-be loves the spa, a natter over some fancy cocktails and a long giggly stroll with her girls then perhaps this could be the inspiration for the hen weekend!

Budget

Money is something we have always got to take into account (sadly). The option of having a hen party at home eliminates the cost of the hotel and transport, it does however require a rather spacious house and garden as the venue (this may not be the bride-to-be's home but possibly one of her hens-there is always one in the group who has a love for interiors). A nibbly lunch/dinner is a cheaper idea rather than eating out - make it fun, have a summer BBQ, a fondue or maybe a pizza making competition? Get creative!

Activities

Just because you and the girls are staying in it doesn't mean that people can't come to you!

If you fancy a cocktail making masterclass then arrange a company to come to the house- this is a very popular option. It means you can get giggle and merry without the stress of the venue, organising a bar-crawl, chasing and rounding up the party all night. You can enjoy a fancy prosecco in the comfort of your own dressing gown on the sofa with all your besties around you, or get glammed up in sparkly dresses and heels and create a photo booth in the garden to create polaroids of the night (these work brilliantly for favours or inside thankyou cards for all the hens afterwards). Creating cocktails is really fun and fabulous skills for you to crack out at the next party opportunity with a perfectly mastered espresso martini!

Along with this idea- get a group of beauticians to create a mini spa within your home- this allows for everyone to have their nails, hair, makeup done and even a cheeky massage. A fab way to surprise the hens would be to get personalised spa robes and slippers- brilliant for photos as everyone will coordinate and a brilliant souvenir from the event. This will be an appreciated activity for those hens with children or stressful jobs who need some downtime and pampering.

A baking contest is always a fun and girly way of getting everyone involved. One of the best advantages of having a hen party at home is that is caters for all ages- if you had a hen with a little girl, she could come along too- everything is customisable and in your control. A requirement is a fairly large kitchen but other than that it's all rather DIY, collect some baking supplies together like food colouring, cupcake toppers and some glitter and you're ready to bake!

Decoration

Go all out! Just because you've saved money on the venue, make sure you don't skimp on the decorations... All the flowers, balloons, candles, the more the merrier. Balloon arches/ceilings have a big impact for minimal cost. Create a show stopping table display with a glamorous colour scheme, may I suggest rose gold, get table confetti and paper straws. Ikea have some amazing cocktail glasses -sure to wow the guests.  A pretty, delicate backdrop can be the finishing piece- don't be afraid of getting carried away, the more the better.
